New Deputies Elected: Greens' Parliamentary Group Welcomes Khan and Müller onboard

Greens Reinstate Khan and Müller as Members on the Board - The Green Group reaffirms leadership positions for Khan and Müller within their Board.

Let's divulge the exciting news! The Greens' parliamentary group has recently picked two fresh faces to join their board: Misbah Khan from Rhineland-Palatinate and Claudia Müller from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Khan, a long-standing Bundestag member from 2021, will now lend her expertise to the role of deputy chair, tackling pressing matters related to health, care, and societal issues. Previously, these crucial topics fell under the jurisdiction of Maria Klein-Schmeink, who decided against seeking re-election in February.

Singular Challenger

Notably, the group reinstated Andreas Audretsch, Julia Verlinden, Agnieszka Brugger, and Konstantin von Notz as deputies. As per faction sources, there was only one competitor, Till Steffen, vying for Konstantin von Notz's deputy position—but alas, Till's bid was unsuccessful. Steffen had previously served as one of three parliamentary managers in the previous legislative period.

Enduring Managers

Filiz Polat and Anja Reinalter seamlessly secured their positions as parliamentary managers.

The group made their top appointments back in March. Co-faction leaders Britta Haßelmann and Katharina Dröge were both re-elected, while Irene Mihalic maintained her position as the first parliamentary manager.

The Commission has been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation, particularly in light of Misbah Khan's expertise in health and care issues, having newly joined the Bundestag as a deputy after her election in Rhineland-Palatinate. Claudia Müller, another newly elected deputy from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, will also contribute to the group's policy-and-legislation, following her victory in the Bundestag elections. Although Till Steffen had initially contested Konstantin von Notz's deputy position, Steffen – a former parliamentary manager – ultimately did not secure the role. General news reports this as a singular challenge for the Green's parliamentary group in their recent appointments round.
