🚨Breaking News🚨
In the tech world, everyone's talking about the arrest of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov. French authorities nabbed him at Le Bourget airport in Paris last Saturday, after he stepped off his private jet. He's currently locked up until at least Wednesday evening, accused of aiding and abetting fraud, drug trafficking, and distributing child exploitation material on Telegram. The Paris prosecutor's office could slap him with up to 20 years behind bars, but they're yet to confirm whether an inquiry will be initiated against him.
Suspicions are swirling about a mysterious woman who was with Durov during his arrest. She's going by the name Yulia Wawilowa, a 24-year-old streamer and crypto influencer from Dubai, with nearly 30k followers on Instagram. Wawilowa's connection to Durov is vague, with some speculating they're a couple, while others think she might be a spy aiding the French authorities. Unfortunately, there's no concrete evidence to back these claims up.
Data analyst Baptiste Robert revealed on social media that he believes that Durov has been under the radar of multiple intelligence agencies for some time now. Wawilowa could've been a part of this operation. Robert pointed out that if someone had been keeping track of Wawilowa's social media posts, they could easily trace Durov's movements.
Last week, Wawilowa shared pictures and videos of herself fishing and firing guns in Azerbaijan, a country where Durov was also present, according to Robert. Fueling more rumors, Durov's jet left Baku, Azerbaijan's capital, before it landed in Paris. Many believed that Durov may have met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was also in Baku last week, but the Kremlin denied this.
Wawilowa's whereabouts are shrouded in mystery since her arrival in Paris. Her parents reached out on Tuesday, expressing concern that they've been unable to contact her. Were she also arrested, or perhaps she's in hiding? The story of Yulia Wawilowa and her puzzling absence is adding yet another intriguing layer to the Pavel Durov case.
Speaking of mysteries, the Paris prosecutor's office is looking into Wawilowa's role in relation to the Telegram-related charges against Durov. Despite Wawilowa's family's best efforts to find her, her whereabouts remain unclear.
