It is during this power struggle that Ellen falls in love with a rival clan member, Brian Fraser, setting the stage for Jamie's beginnings.
The time travel aspect of the prequel allows for characters to show up at any point, opening the possibility that Claire's parents lived out their lives in the past, though Claire may never have reunited with them. It is uncertain whether Claire, Jamie, or other Outlander favourites will appear in the prequel.
