Etienne Morin, a 20-year-old defenceman, has quickly made his mark in professional hockey. Drafted 48th overall by the Calgary Flames in 2023, he recently scored his first American Hockey League (AHL) goal—a key moment in his young career. The milestone came as he adapts to the demands of pro hockey, balancing play in both the AHL and ECHL this season.

Morin’s first pro goal arrived on December 13, a standout achievement for the young player. His father will keep the puck as a keepsake, marking the significance of the moment. Beyond scoring, Morin aims to develop into a dependable two-way defenceman, contributing both offensively and defensively in the modern game.

Transitioning to professional hockey has gone smoothly for Morin, thanks in part to guidance from veteran teammates. Their mentorship has helped him adjust to the rigorous schedule and intensity of pro play. Before joining the Flames’ system, he was initially drafted by the Minnesota Wild in 2023, though his rights were later acquired by Calgary. Elsewhere in the AHL, two other players are nearing career milestones. Martin Frk is just two games away from appearing in his 500th AHL contest. Meanwhile, William Stromgren sits four points short of reaching 100 in his AHL career, adding to the league’s current achievements.

Morin’s first AHL goal highlights his progress as he splits time between the AHL and ECHL. The Flames prospect continues to refine his skills, supported by experienced teammates and a clear vision for his role. With Frk and Stromgren also approaching personal milestones, the AHL remains a stage for both emerging talent and seasoned players.
