Chatting It Up:

Looks like we're in for a wild ride this summer, as it seems like Andy Bell, former Oasis bassist, has confirmed his return to the stage with the Gallagher brothers. Bell, currently rocking the shoegaze scene with Ride and previously grooving with Oasis from '99 to '09, dropped a tight hint in an interview with Oe24, saying, "I'm in, and I'm really looking forward to it."

While the brothers haven't officially confirmed Bell's participation, sources close to the band told NME that his long-awaited involvement is a done deal. Alongside Bell, other musicians who've played with the Gallagher brothers throughout their careers are expected to take the stage – such as Gem Archer, six-stringer for Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, co-founder and rhythm guitarist of Oasis, and Joey Waronker, renowned drummer with credits from R.E.M. and Roger Waters.

Flashback to '99, when Bell joined Oasis, filling the void left by Paul McGuigan, who quit during the recording sessions of Standing on the Shoulder of Giants. With little bass experience under his belt, Bell had to learn the ropes quickly before hitting the stage with the band. In an interview with our website in 2023, he reminisced, "I hadn't played bass to any great degree before I tried out for Oasis. So when I was invited to come out, when I got on the plane, I didn't have a bass. But I knew the chords to the songs, and I did my best to play the root notes; but I have to say, I probably wasn't that good on the first run-through."

Remembering his time with Noel and Liam, Bell acknowledged that being in a band with the duo was as chaotic as the media portrayed, but added, "To be in a band with those guys was a huge learning experience. Their charisma – it's a real thing. It was another level. And later, one of my proudest moments was that Oasis would start its set with a song I wrote called Turn Up the Sun. That was just unbelievably cool."

Leaving their infamous rivalry behind, the Gallagher brothers are set to reunite this summer for 41 dates, starting in stadiums across the UK and Ireland before moving on to Canada and the US in August and September. It's been a long time coming, but it seems like the wait will be worth it!
