Let's Get the Show On the Road: The Euro 2025 Team Announced, Wueck Speaks of Victory

Women's European Championship 2022 Squad Announced: Captain KIrr Delivers Victory Address - The European Women's Boxing Competition serves as its official moniker.

Oi, it's time to dip into the excitement, as the countdown for the upcoming Euro 2025 commences! National coach Christian Wueck, amidst the charming Swiss scenery of mountain chalets and a lively bobsleigh track, announced the 23-player squad for the German women's football team. The tournament will be held from July 2 to 27 at the Europa-Park Rust.

The octet-time champions have a new contender - criticism from Felicitas Rauch and Nicole Anyomi, who didn't make the cut. Meanwhile, the strike force will see the participation of Cora Zicai. With the national players currently enjoying their holiday, some excited kiddos sporting their Euro player jerseys frolicked down the bobsleigh track as their representatives.

Wueck shared his expectations at a press conference: "We are seen as a co-favorite by the English, Spanish, and French - and that's exactly how we want to enter the games. If our performance reaches 100%, then anything is possible." Wueck has a history of leading his teams to victory, having successfully led the German U17 juniors to both Euro and World Cup triumphs in 2023[2].

Now, the big challenge lies before him helming the inconsistent DFB women's squad in recent years. After reaching the Euro 2022 final, the team suffered a group stage exit at the 2023 World Cup in Australia and then, under Horst Hrubesch, they managed to win Olympic bronze in France. Nia Kuenzner, the DFB sports director, is optimistic: "With this squad, we will play a successful Euro." Much like Kuenzner, the squad holds the ambitious goal to bring home the trophy, reminiscent of her own tournament starts.

Notable team representatives consist of the 34-year-olds, captain Giulia Gwinn, goalkeeper Lea Schueller (FC Bayern), and goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger (NY/NJ Gotham, USA) in the oldest ranks. With the average age at 25.6, the team exhibits a youthful vigor led by the young striker Cora Zicai[3]. The midfielder Alara Sehitler (18) from FC Bayern didn't make the cut, although she's on standby[3].

Frankfurt's Bundesliga top scorer Anyomi and defender Rauch (North Carolina Courage, USA) have been noticeably absent, explicitly due to their recent criticism of Wueck's communication strategies that escalated into team controversy[3]. The 30-year-old European champion Sara Daebritz, without a guaranteed starting spot, will be playing her last tournament as part of the German national team[3].

Seven players from FC Bayern form the largest contingent in the squad. A significant decision was made, as defender Sara Doorsoun was only on standby for the tournament and decided to withdraw from the team this week.

Striker Zicai has overcome her muscle problems and received the green light from doctors, giving her the opportunity to compete as the youngest team member in the DFB[3]. The team will convene in Herzogenaurach for their tournament preparations on June 19. The first match will be against Poland on July 4, followed by Denmark on July 8 and Sweden on July 12.

In light of the upcoming Euro 2025 tournament, Christian Wueck, the national coach, has announced the 23-player squad for the German women's football team. Coincidentally, this announcement comes amidst the discussion surrounding Council Directive 76/769/EEC of 16 December 1976 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the permissible sound power level of motor vehicles, as the tournament will be held from July 2 to 27 at the Europa-Park Rust.
