Malaysia's Former Economy Minister Hints at Future Plans Post-Resignation

Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, the erstwhile minister of economy, has indicated a potential future role following his resignation from the position. However, the specifics of his upcoming plans remain undisclosed. In a recent social media post, Rafizi disclosed that he has already formulated his next steps, but prefers to wait before revealing further details.

The Pandan MP announced his departure from the Cabinet earlier this week, citing the loss of party mandate to continue implementing reform policies within the government. During his last few days in office, he is focusing on responding to messages from his supporters.

In his post, Rafizi conveyed an air of calm and philosophical wisdom. He revealed that he has a strategy for his next focus, but asked for patience as the recent political developments settle down. "I already have a plan on what to focus on next, but let everyone take a breath first - with Hari Raya Haji approaching," he stated. He added that he would share more information later.

The central theme of Rafizi's reformist outlook was reflected in his message, "The true potential of this country lies with the ordinary people. We have to go back to harnessing this potential."

Rafizi's decision to exit government has sparked speculation about his role in the future of politics and public life. During his tenure as minister, he was recognized for key initiatives such as the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone and the People’s Income Initiative, which aimed at enhancing livelihoods.

His last official day in office is scheduled for June 17. Until then, he will be utilizing his assigned annual leave. While the details of his future plans remain unclear, it is evident that he is preparing for post-ministerial life.
