Let's discuss the shift in Rhineland-Palatinate's educational landscape 💼️📚
Last year, Rhineland-Palatinate climbed up to the ninth spot in the German education system ranking, impressing one and all. The Education Monitor, which analyzes the education systems of federal states using 98 indicators, put Saxony at the top, with Bavaria, Hamburg, and Thuringia hot on its tail. Bremen, as usual, was at the bottom of the list, with Brandenburg and North Rhine-Westphalia trailing close behind.
The comparison takes educational poverty reduction, securing prosperity, skilled labor support, growth promotion, permeability assessment, and equal opportunity into account. It scrutinizes indicators such as the ratio of educational expenditure per student to total public budget expenditure per inhabitant, investments in schools and universities, and care key in educational institutions.
In the previous report, Berlin made a remarkable jump, moving from the 15th spot to the 12th, while Saarland and Hamburg exhibited the most significant improvement over the past decade.
This is the 21st Education Monitor, and a detailed analysis of each federal state will be presented on Tuesday. Education economist Axel Plünnecke from the Institute of the German Economy (IW) stated that improvements have been noted in internationalization, funding infrastructure, and care conditions across Germany over the past decade. However, he warned that challenges in integration, school quality, and educational poverty have increased significantly.
The 21st Education Monitor comes with a new section that focuses on the impact of digitalization on the education system. In the discussion about educational expenditure, it was observed that Rhineland-Palatinate significantly boosted its investments in digital infrastructure for education over the past five years.
This enhancement in digital infrastructure is evident in several key initiatives and projects, such as the DESTINY Joint Doctoral Network (JDN), the International Certification in Digital Literacy (ICDL), the PlaCES Project, and various cybersecurity initiatives. These efforts aim to develop digital literacy, integrate digital tools into educational curricula, and ensure the security of digital educational systems.
