Herne's Cranger Kirmes 2025: A Celebration of Community Spirit and Unity

In the heart of Herne, the Cranger Festhalle played host to a vibrant and inspiring event on Monday evening. The Cranger Kirmes 2025, a traditional fair filled with parades, performances, and competitions, brought together the city's residents in a celebration of community spirit and unity.

The event was opened with a heartfelt speech by the moderator, Peter Großmann, who praised the volunteers as the embodiment of super volunteers in the city. These volunteers, along with members of clubs and associations, were the main attractions of the fair, their contributions to the community highlighted throughout the event.

The parade, a highlight of the Cranger Kirmes, saw floats from various clubs and associations vying for top honours. The winners in the float cars category were the Evangelical Hospital Community Herne | Castrop-Rauxel, "Wanner Mädels und Jungs", and the "Cranger Kirmes Knights". In the foot groups category, the Schwimm-Verein Neptun Herne, Palliative Network Herne/Wanne-Eickel/Castrop-Rauxel, and the Wanne-Eickeler chimney sweeper took the top spots.

The Cranger Kirmes Cup, a football tournament, also took place during the fair. For the first time, the neighbouring football team SV Wanne 11 stood at the top of the podium, receiving a prize money of 3,000 euros. BV Herne-Süd finished third and received 750 euros, while DSC Wanne-Eickel took second place and received 1,000 euros. All the winners of the Cranger Kirmes Cup were from Herne and Wanne-Eickel.

Two special prizes were given for "particularly strong social commitment". Recipients were HOT-Jüngerbistro in Wanne-Mitte and MÜNTEFERING INDUSTRIE- UND STÄDTEREINIGUNGS GMBH. The HOT-Jüngerbistro enabled 50 people with disabilities living in Herne and Wanne-Eickel residential communities to participate in the parade. MÜNTEFERING INDUSTRIE- UND STÄDTEREINIGUNGS GMBH restored an old fairground bell train and organized free rides, allowing 30 people with disabilities from the "Teestube for people with disabilities" in Holsterhausen to participate in the Cranger Lindwurm.

The show acts performing were all from Herne, with the cheerleading group "Claws" of the Baukau TC and local heroes "Kanal 499", founded by the Herne fire brigade, showcasing their skills. The event ended on a high note with a performance by "Kanal 499", extending the event by half an hour.

The mayor of Herne, Dr. Frank Dudda, praised the creativity shown during the fair, particularly the parade. Carsten Staub, mayor of Herne's partner city Eisleben, was also present at the event. The images created during the fair attracted attention beyond the borders of the city, according to Dr. Frank Dudda.

The event, "Treff im Zelt", was exclusively for residents of Herne, providing a unique opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate their shared spirit. The Cranger Kirmes 2025 was indeed a testament to the power of community, friendship, and the spirit of volunteering in Herne.

Football matches were part of the Cranger Kirmes 2025, with the SV Wanne 11 triumphing in the Cranger Kirmes Cup tournament, earning them a prize of 3,000 euros. The cheerleading group "Claws" of the Baukau TC, a local favorite, also showcased their skills during the event's show acts.

The winners of the special prizes for "particularly strong social commitment" were the HOT-Jüngerbistro in Wanne-Mitte and MÜNTEFERING INDUSTRIE- UND STÄDTEREINIGUNGS GMBH, organizations that actively involved individuals with disabilities in the fair's parade and activities.
