The Heimfelder Schützenverein in Harburg, Germany, is set to host its annual Vogelschießen and Volksfest from August 21st to 25th, 2025. This traditional event, organized by Schützenvereine (marksmen clubs), promises a weekend filled with shooting competitions, parades, music performances, social gatherings, and more.
The festivities kick off on Friday, August 21st, with the grand tattoo taking place in front of the Friedrich-Ebert Hall at 9 pm. This ceremonial event is a highlight of the Schützenverein's calendar, and it sets the tone for the weekend ahead.
On Saturday, August 22nd, the proclamation of the new vice-kings occurs at 8 pm, followed by the "Summer Beats Party" with DJ Crazy Paddy. Tickets for this event cost ten euros, including three euros for refreshments. For the younger visitors, a children's festival in the festival tent starts at 3:30 pm, and each child aged 3 to 12 will receive a prize.
Sarah Moysen, crowned "die Unnachgiebige" in 2023, is the reigning queen of the Heimfelder Schützenverein. She expressed her pleasure with the "donations instead of flowers" initiative during her coronation ball, particularly the collected donations for the German Children's Rheumatism Foundation. Her adjutantants are Vera Lünsmann, Caro Kabuse, and Nadine Gruschwitz, and Chris Peglow is her prince consort.
The Heimfelder Schützenverein's Vogelschießen will conclude the shooting season in Harburg. Many guests have announced their attendance, including friendly shooters from Eißendorf and Marmstorf, as well as some familiar faces from local politics.
The shooting of young shooters on the bird and the shooting on the large bird and targets starts at 8 am on Sunday, August 23rd. The proclamation of the new shooting kings occurs in front of the shooting stand, followed by the festival ball in the festival tent, with free admission.
The Vogelschießen and Volksfest will take place around the festival grounds at Heimfelder Straße 120. The event highlights also include the grand tattoo on Friday, the children's festival on Saturday, and the "Summer Beats Party" on Saturday evening.
