"The classic game 'Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine' receives an updated version"

Spring a decade back, and the original Warhammer 40k: Space Marine is making a comeback to modern gaming.

SneakyBox, the masterminds behind the port, have crafted the definitive "Master Crafted Edition" of this classic third-person shooter. As Vaidas Mikelskas, the producer, rightly puts it, this update is more than just a visual overhaul - it's a "thoughtful restoration...a respectful dialogue between past and present, preserving what made the original special while making it shine for a new generation of gamers."

With a sleek, modern UI and control scheme, this Space Marine undergoes a visual metamorphosis, not just for improved aesthetics, but to align the Orks with their current visual identity in the Warhammer 40k franchise. The update boasts over 100 new voice lines to keep the dialogue fresh and engaging.

Originally developed by Relic Entertainment and released in 2011, the first Space Marine received generally positive reviews. Regrettably, the planned sequels never saw the light of day when the game's publisher THQ shuttered its doors. However, in 2013, Sega acquired Relic and re-released the game on PC in 2021.

Fast forward to 2024, when Saber Interactive announced they would be developing the sequel for publisher Focus Entertainment, which received impressive reviews. A follow-up to the sequel is already in the works.

Currently, the rights for the original Space Marine remain with Sega, who haven't announced a PlayStation 5 version of the Master Crafted Edition. So, if you're eager to dive back into the world of Space Marines, you'll have to grab it on PC or Xbox Series X|S, or play it via Xbox Game Pass, starting June 10, 2025.
