The Chi Renewed for Final Eighth Season
The Chi has been renewed for an eighth and final season, Showtime announced in May 2023. The news comes after the Season 7 premiere and follows the cancellations of other Showtime series like Dexter: New Blood.
Lena Waithe, the creator of The Chi, expressed gratitude and commitment to delivering a final season that the Chi Family deserves. Production on the last season is set to begin in early 2026. Waithe and Justin Hillian will continue as co-showrunners and executive producers, along with other executive producers including Common and Aaron Kaplan.
The Chi joins the ranks of long-running Showtime series like Dexter, Homeland, and Weeds with eight seasons. Its final season will mark the end of Showtime's original scripted programming, as it transitions to Paramount+.
The Chi's eighth season, set to air on both Paramount+ and Showtime, will be its last. Fans can look forward to a fitting conclusion to the series, with Lena Waithe and Justin Hillian at the helm.
