The Chancellery seeks stricter border control for immigrants.

In response to the unfavorable court rulings on border rejections and asylum seekers, the German government is beefing up its efforts to justify its stances in the legal realm. Chancellor's Office head Frei affirms the impending migration shift whilst adhering to legal guidelines.

CDU politician Thorsten Frei, Chancellor's Office Minister, has brushed off claims of disregard for court judgments. "We've faced an interim court ruling that went against us, and now we need to delve deep into the intricacies and potentially bolster our justifications," he said, speaking to Funke media group [1].

Frei foreshadows the possibility of a more thorough examination of the legal conundrum if they're unsuccessful in this court battle. "If we fail in this court case, we'll reevaluate this legal question in a more comprehensive manner," he stated [1]. Frei insists respect for all court decisions is paramount: if a court pinpoints a weakness, they'll address it [2].

Frei anticipated the interim decision made by the Berlin Administrative Court; however, he emphasized, "The migration shift is on the horizon." In the complex legal sphere, such decisions were not out of the question [3].

Frei emphasizes that border controls should be as swift as possible. "While we're not thrilled to control internal borders, we do so due to the persistent inability to protect the European external borders effectively, meaning we can't responsibly abolish the internal border controls," he explained [3].

However, he underscored the effort towards fostering effective European external border protection to restore freedom of movement within the Schengen area [3]. He also indicated that, while all measures might not be lifted with the European asylum reform implementation, collaboration on the European scale will be crucial to overcome migration challenges [4].
