In the year 2120, Earth is a battleground for five powerful corporations, including Weyland-Yutani, vying to advance technology and create new android life. This is the setting for the new television series, Alien: Earth, which premieres on August 12.

Alex Lawther plays Hermit, a normal character amidst AI creations and extraterrestrial beings. Hermit is a highly ethical and emotional character, portrayed as somewhat naïve but deeply humane. Lawther's challenge was authentically expressing this emotional vulnerability amid intense sci-fi action.

Sydney Chandler plays Wendy, a hybrid character searching for her brother amidst the alien threat. Wendy is a mentor to several kids in the series and navigates being a child in an adult body. Chandler's character, Wendy, lives "very much in black and white," and she'd like to "explore the grey matter."

Timothy Olyphant plays Kirsh, a synthetic leader in the series, whose character is unlike anyone seen before in the Alien universe. Kirsh is focused on studying all the alien creatures. Olyphant's portrayal of Kirsh features an "ice-cold barrier" but is noted for inserting bursts of humanity into his performance.

Babou Ceesay plays Morrow, the first-ever on-screen cyborg in the Alien franchise. Morrow is a human augmented with technology, presenting a unique acting challenge. Ceesay successfully explored the difficult space between hybrid and synthetic identities, especially given Morrow's sacrifice for Weyland-Yutani and remaining traces of his humanity.

Samuel Blenkin plays Boy Kavalier, CEO of Prodigy and a young trillionaire. Boy Kavalier's character acts and dresses like a kid fresh out of high school despite his position. Boy Kavalier's character is complex, with a sense of playfulness and frustration.

The cast collectively faced intense sequences, demanding emotional and physical performances within a richly layered sci-fi horror universe. They overcame these by deeply engaging with their characters' unique complexities, especially navigating themes of humanity versus artificiality and ethical dilemmas amidst a terrifying alien threat.

Alien: Earth premieres on Tuesday, August 12, with the first two episodes available to stream on Hulu at 8 pm ET and on the FX linear channel at 8 pm ET/PT, and on Disney+ internationally on August 13. A new episode will premiere each following Tuesday on Hulu beginning at 8 pm ET and on FX at 8 pm ET/PT.

The series explores themes of trusting AI and its potential implications for humanity. It features AI creations and massive corporations threatening humanity's survival. Alien: Earth's leads, Sydney Chandler and Alex Lawther, tease further developments in their characters' relationship.

Babou Ceesay's favorite day on set was in Krabi, Thailand, where he had a strange encounter with sea snakes. Ceesay, Lawther, Chandler, Olyphant, and Blenkin all faced unique acting challenges in portraying their complex characters within this thrilling new series.
