"The BossHoss return to their origins as they celebrate their roots"
The BossHoss Return with a Twist in Their Anniversary Album "Back to the Boots"
German band The BossHoss are set to release their anniversary album "Back to the Boots" this Friday, 20 years after their debut. The album promises a unique blend of American country music, German humor, and the band's signature twists.
Frontman Alec Völkel describes "Back to the Boots" as a return to their roots, with twenty years of experience under their belt. The album evokes the scent of American country roads, motor oil, and whiskey, while maintaining the band's handcrafted German sound.
The band members often visit the United States for inspiration, but Völkel believes that the BossHoss sound is already in them and can be achieved in Berlin as well. The album includes tracks like "One More Time", "Win Win", and "Showdown", which are expected to heat up the atmosphere during their concert tour.
A notable feature of the album is the inclusion of celebrities such as R&B legend Dionne Warwick, who contributes her voice for a new version of her hit "What the World Needs Now Is Love". Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger also lends his voice, recording his famous "Terminator" line "I'll be back" for a song on the album.
The band's music is a blend of country-rock, inspired by America but handcrafted in Germany. The BossHoss found Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" too large for their cowboy boots, instead opting for a rock version of Willie Nelson's "On the Road Again". The album also includes tracks like "Lunch" and "German Angst" that stand out with their unique blends of American country and German humor.
Völkel considers the current happenings in the USA as strange, but still sees the country itself as great. Despite the second term of US President Donald Trump, The BossHoss maintains their love for the USA, with Vollmer expressing hope that America will become reasonable again.
The BossHoss conducted their tour in late September 2025 at the following German clubs: Große Freiheit 36 in Hamburg on September 26 and Astra Kulturhaus in Berlin on September 27. The band is composed of Alec Völkel (53) and Sascha Vollmer (53).
The idea for the band originated from behind a bar in Berlin, and what started as a private project gained popularity through self-burned CDs distributed among friends. The band aims to feel close to their fans again, similar to their early years before appearing as judges on "The Voice".
Overall, "Back to the Boots" is a testament to The BossHoss's enduring love for American country music, infused with their unique German flair. Fans can look forward to a lively and entertaining concert tour, filled with the band's signature blend of music and humor.
