In exciting news for Marvel fans, the latest instalment of the Spider-Man franchise, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," is set to bring together some familiar faces and introduce new characters.

Mark Ruffalo, known for his portrayal of Bruce Banner/The Hulk, will reprise his role in the movie. Unlike his previous appearances, Ruffalo's Banner is expected to have a significant role alongside Tom Holland's Peter Parker, rather than a mere cameo. Ruffalo, aged 57, has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2012, first appearing in "The Avengers."

Joining Ruffalo is Jon Bernthal, who is making his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut as Frank Castle, alias The Punisher. Bernthal first portrayed The Punisher in the 2016 series "Daredevil." The Punisher character hasn't appeared in a film since 2008's "Punisher: War Zone."

Michael Mando, aged 44, is reportedly set to reprise his role as Mac Cargan aka The Scorpion in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day." Mando is known for his role in "Better Call Saul."

Liza Colón-Zayas and Sadie Sink are also joining the cast, but their specific roles remain undisclosed. Variety reports that speculation about Sink's role ranges from a new love interest for Parker to a possible connection to the "X-Men."

Tom Holland, aged 29, will star in his fourth solo outing as Spider-Man in the same movie. Holland is joined by Zendaya as MJ (M.J. Jones-Watson) and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, who are returning cast members from previous Spider-Man films.

The movie is written by the duo Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, and is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. Production for the movie is expected to begin in England this month, with a release date set for July 31, 2026.

Jon Bernthal's Punisher is a major new addition, coming off his appearance in "Daredevil: Born Again." Bernthal's return to the Marvel Universe is highly anticipated by fans.

Mando previously played The Scorpion in 2017's "Spider-Man: Homecoming." The three predecessors combined grossed over four billion dollars worldwide, setting high expectations for the new movie.

While Marvel has not yet made an official comment on Ruffalo's casting in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," fans are eagerly awaiting more details about the movie. With a talented cast and a promising director, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
