Die Amigos Granted Honorary Citizenship in Hunger City - "The Amigos have been bestowed with the title of Honorary Citizens by the municipality"

The Amigos, the powerhouse duo of folk-oriented Schlager music, proudly wears the badge of honorary citizenship hailing from their humble beginnings in Hungen. Boasting a career spanning a whopping 55 years, the fraternal pair - Karl-Heinz (76) and Bernd Ulrich (74) - were bestowed an honor unprecedented in their local hometown.

On a sunny festival day on Hungen's bustling market square, Mayor Rainer Wengorsch (Free Voters) proudly presented the duo their honorary titles. Overwhelmed with the prestige, Bernd Ulrich remarked, "This is a huge honor," as the crowd erupted in applause comprising both townsfolk and loyal fans. "We will always remain the two village musicians from Villingen," he assured.

The musical journey of the siblings, who hailed from Villingen - a district of Hungen - has captivated the nation with 16 number-one albums gracing the official German charts. Some of their popular hits include "I'll go through fire for you" and "Between love and madness."

Unwavering Authenticity

Addressing the duo during his speech, Mayor Wengorsch proclaimed, "For me, you are legends," praising their genuine and accessible demeanors. The duo's incredible ability to bridge generations and maintain their "human" touch resonated with the city council, leading to a unanimous decision to grant them the title of honorary citizens.

Eschewing the notion of retirement, The Amigos showed no signs of slowing down. In the delight of their fans, they serenaded the crowd with some of their chart-topping tunes, including "Like the Rolling Stones" from their latest album, "Live Now." Exemplifying The Amigos' unrelenting spirit, "We do it like the Rolling Stones, we never stop" echoed through the festival square, as the duo assured their dedication to their fans.

Beer-soaked Finale

As a thunderous farewell, the duo treated their adoring audience to free beer, dispensing a whopping 120 liters. While the fraternal duo has pledged to scale back their touring schedule slightly, appearing at around 70-80 dates annually, their commitment to their fans and the love for their craft remains unwavering.
