The Ministry of Education has announced the establishment of a School Management Board, a new initiative aimed at improving school governance. The School Management Board is expected to be a platform where school directors can contribute their expertise and practical experience more effectively.
Education Minister Wiederkehr (NEOS) stated that the School Management Board will further strengthen school partnerships and school autonomy. The School Management Board will include representatives from various school types, fostering a holistic view of school processes and needs.
School directors will act as a link between school partners (student, parent, teacher representation) on the School Management Board. They can provide valuable insights into operational challenges and the implementation of educational reforms. The School Management Board will enable direct feedback from and consultation with school directors, allowing for more direct involvement in decision-making processes.
The Federal Student Council and the Parents' Council already have an advisory role in the Ministry of Education. The School Management Board will further strengthen these partnerships, contributing to the autonomy of schools. The establishment of the School Management Board is expected to improve cooperation and networking between federal states.

The School Leadership Council, founded by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science, and Research on November 10, 2017, paved the way for the School Management Board. The announcement concerning the School Management Board was made on Friday.
