In an exciting turn of events, Noah Centineo is set to portray the young John Rambo in the upcoming film titled John Rambo. This prequel serves as an origin story for the iconic character, known for his appearances in the original Rambo series.
The film will focus on Rambo's time as a Green Beret during the Vietnam War, exploring the psychological and physical experiences that shaped him into the character first seen in the 1982 film First Blood. The plot centers on Rambo’s early military service, delving into his backstory and the events that led to him becoming the Vietnam War veteran we know.
Directed by Jalmari Helander, known for his work on films like "Big Game" and "Sisu", the movie is set to begin production around 2026, with a script by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. Filming will take place in Thailand.
Sylvester Stallone, who made the character famous, is not directly involved with this project. Centineo, who gained recognition for his roles in romantic comedies and more recently action-oriented projects, represents a new generation to carry the Rambo legacy forward.
This film reboots the franchise by exploring Rambo’s backstory rather than continuing from the last film in 2019. It aims to tell a fresh, younger perspective of the character’s origins.

John Rambo, the character, has been embodied by Sylvester Stallone five times in the Rambo film series. Stallone last portrayed Rambo in 2019's "Rambo: Last Blood" under the direction of Adrian Grunberg.
