The 2023 British Short Film Festival embraces the spirit of raving culture
British Shorts Festival Returns to Berlin with a Weekender Theme
The British Shorts Festival is set to return to Berlin from 18th to 24th January, 20XX. This year, the 17th edition of the festival takes on the theme "Weekender - Memories of Acid House & 90s Rave Scenes".
The festival promises an exciting lineup of short films, including works from various filmmakers across various genres. From experimental films to animated productions, there's something for everyone.
One of the highlights of this year's festival is the experimental drama The Dong with the Luminous Nose, directed by Jonny Phillips. Starring Tilda Swinton and Robert Whitelock, the film is based on a story by Edward Lear. Another noteworthy film is Wild Summon, an animated experimental production created by Karni & Saul. Marianne Faithful will be featured in this film.
In addition to the films, the festival will also host supporting exhibitions, live music, talks, and a workshop. A retrospective will showcase old-school promos, documentaries, and footage from the early days of UK rave culture. This retrospective aims to trace the evolution of rave culture from its underground origins to its commercial homogenization.
