The 14th Guess Tour Kicks Off
Pantomime Nemo: Empowering Communities Through Non-Verbal Performance
Pantomime Nemo is an international, non-profit organization that aims to inspire courage and confidence in individuals aged 6 and above who find themselves in challenging life situations. Founded by Wolfgang Neuhausen in Mpumalanga, South Africa in 2006, Pantomime Nemo has evolved into a global project that uses the art of pantomime to foster participation, understanding, inclusion, and team spirit.
At the heart of Pantomime Nemo's approach is "Easy Mime Art", a unique form of pantomime that allows observations, experiences, or thoughts to be expressed without words. This immediate and understandable method encourages creative self-expression and emotional connection, breaking down barriers and fostering a sense of unity.
The team behind Pantomime Nemo consists of performers Margaret, Ray, Thandeka, Rulph, and Daniella from Cape Town and Mpumalanga. With over 40 years of experience in guest performances in 43 countries, Wolfgang Neuhausen often accompanies the team to ensure the workshops and performances deliver the intended impact.
The Mutmachtour, launched by Pantomime Nemo, was initially aimed at inspiring young people in South African townships. The tour has since expanded to reach diverse communities worldwide, with a 5-member team from South Africa set to perform in Düsseldorf, throughout North Rhine-Westphalia, and beyond from May 3rd to June 17th, 2025.
One of the most notable impacts of Pantomime Nemo's workshops can be seen in schools. After a workshop, school principal Birgit Nösser reported that language barriers and sadness among refugee children seemed to no longer matter at their school.
