Get ready, Thailand! The government has given the green light to host Formula One (F1) races in the heart of Bangkok from 2028 to 2032. Buckle up for five consecutive years of pulse-pounding action in the Chatuchak area.

The announcement was made after a Cabinet meeting this week, confirming that the street circuit will stretch over 5.7 kilometres across three exhilarating days of practice, qualifying, and race day. But that's not all – the full operational period may exceed three days due to preparations, inspections, and temperature checks.

Applauded as a world-class event to grace the Kingdom's shores, day-to-day running costs are estimated to total 41.4 billion baht over five years. Designing the circuit alone has been granted an immediate 218 million baht budget.

The race track will span multiple locations, including the Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal, Mo Chit 2 Bus Terminal, Chatuchak Weekend Market, Queen Sirikit Park, and land behind the PTT HQ and State Railway of Thailand.

Jirayu Houngsub, the Prime Minister's Office spokesman, couldn't contain his excitement, declaring that hosting this epic event is set to throw Thailand onto the global stage, promising massive economic and social benefits.

The race is expected to attract around 99,875 spectators per day, with a whopping 300,000 visitors annually. The government foresees generating 16 billion baht in local economic circulation yearly, with an added 14 billion baht in value, as well as 1.4 billion baht in additional annual tax revenue. Over the five-year term, they anticipate 7 billion baht in fresh investments, and 8,000 new job opportunities per year.

Beyond economic gains, the event will boost infrastructure, digital systems, engineering, technology, and STEM education, promote Thai culture, cuisine, and art on the world stage, enhance national pride, and draw millions of motorsports enthusiasts. In addition, it aims to bridge social and economic divides, provide job opportunities across skill levels, and support local communities.
