In a conversation held in Bangkok on Thursday (September 18), Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim discussed the upcoming ASEAN summit, scheduled for next month. The conversation, which was limited to pleasantries and the planned official visit to Malaysia during the ASEAN summit, did not include discussions about the border conflicts between Thailand and Cambodia.

During a press conference at Bhumjaithai Party headquarters in Bangkok on Friday, Prime Minister Anutin confirmed that no details regarding the border issues were discussed in his conversation with Anwar. He reiterated that the focus of the conversation was solely on the ASEAN summit.

Anwar, in a previous social media post, expressed hope that border issues would be addressed through the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC). He emphasized during the conversation that diplomacy and dialogue are the best means to achieve peace and stability in the region.

The ASEAN summit is an annual meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, bringing together leaders from the member countries to discuss regional issues and cooperation. This year's summit is expected to be a significant event, with leaders from across Southeast Asia gathering to discuss a wide range of topics.

Prime Minister Anutin's planned visit to Malaysia during the ASEAN summit is a testament to the strong diplomatic ties between the two countries. The exact details of the visit, including the date and agenda, have not yet been announced.

As the region continues to navigate complex issues, the emphasis on diplomacy and dialogue is a positive step towards maintaining peace and stability. The upcoming ASEAN summit promises to be a crucial event in this regard, providing an opportunity for leaders to discuss and address these challenges head-on.
