Thai military discusses the Cambodian infiltration into casinos, standing by for resolution from talks

The Royal Thai Navy has discovered a complex situation due to a border dispute with Cambodia over a casino and associated roads along the Chanthaburi and Trat border. Admiral Jirapol Wongwit, the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy, has confirmed that the casino, which currently extends into Thai territory, is a contentious issue. Thailand asserts partial ownership of the casino, but Cambodia does not acknowledge this claim.

International observers emphasize the importance of understanding each country's borders, and the resolution of this issue relies on negotiations with Cambodian authorities. Currently, no Cambodian troops are present on the site, but security concerns hinder discussions on reopening checkpoints or easing trade.

The Thai government has formally protested the encroachment, but the complaints have had limited impact. Anutin, a high-ranking Thai official, has ordered a review of his recent UN trip following Cambodia's petition to the US leader over the issue.

Anutin has also dismissed accusations of border queries, affirming Thai sovereignty. He stresses that the current strategy is negotiation-focused. However, if negotiations falter, the government will reassess its approach.

Thai authorities have issued guidelines for managing the disputed areas, including removing Cambodian constructions left from previous clashes. This task is challenging due to minefields, but efforts are being made to ensure safety.

Operations in the Burapha Task Force area differ from the Lower Northeastern military region. Any movements there would be matched according to the situation. Jirapol states that all forces remain on alert, ready to respond as necessary.

The negotiations involve the large casino and connecting roads, with the resolution depending on the outcome of these talks. Thailand accuses Cambodia of using its citizens as 'human shields' in the border dispute, adding complexity to the situation.

Meanwhile, the Thai army questions Malaysia's Prime Minister's neutrality over Hun Manet's one-sided claims, further complicating regional relations. As negotiations continue, both countries strive to protect their interests and maintain peace in the region.
