Thai humor veterans join forces for upcoming romantic comedy movie
Blockbuster Thai Comedy Unites Legends for Unconventional Rom-Com
Gather 'round, folks! The comedy troupe that ruled your screens in the early 2000s is back together for a raucous romp! Legendary funnymen Petchtai "Mum Jokmok" Wongkamlao, Choosak "Nong Cha-cha-cha" Eamsuk, and Pongsak "Teng Therdtherng" Pongsuwan have teamed up once more after 15 long years. This time around, they're starring in the whimsical romantic comedy, Nak Rak Mak, Maak Mak (Nak Loves Mak So Much), inspired by Thai folklore.
Produced by Nation Group (Thailand), Black Dragon Entertainment, and Transformation Films, this reunion is a special one indeed. Nong, besides gracing us with his on-screen charm, is also stepping behind the camera as the film's director. Remember their collaboration on Teng Nong Kon Maha Hia back in 2007? Well, get ready for some deja vu, because he's at it again!
But wait, there's more! Teng takes on the role of Uncle, the dedicated assistant director, while Mum plays a hapless extra whose every move fails to impress the merciless director. Are they messing with Mum simply for laughs, or is he really in for a world of trouble? Nong has laughed about it in the past, claiming Mum would struggle if he ever directed a film.
Beyond our favorite jokers, the film also features the stunning Narilya "Yada" Gulmongkolpech as the latest iteration of Nang Nak. Fans will recognize her from roles in The Medium, Master of the House, and Duangjai Dhevaprom.
The film dives into the journey of the ambitious Pued, who teams up with Uncle to reimagine the timeless Nang Nak love saga with an industry-shaking twist. However, the plot takes a surprising turn when the actual Nang Nak materializes on set, determined to find her reincarnated beloved, Krist, portrayed by Perawat "Krist" Sangpotirat. As a real ghost joins the party, will this film become a legend for its triumphant run or a beacon of catastrophic failure?
Catch Nak Rak Mak, Maak Mak in theaters on July 24, and buckle up for an unforgettable cinematic experience!
