In August 2025, Thailand and Mongolia announced an expanded partnership focused on healthcare, wellness, and tourism, marking a new phase in their over 50 years of diplomatic relations. This collaboration aims to leverage Thailand's advanced wellness and medical tourism sectors alongside Mongolia's growing interest in wellness industry development.

The partnership was formalised during the Thai Fair 2025 and business matching sessions held in Ulaanbaatar, at Sukhbaatar Square and the Blue Sky Hotel. The event, the 17th overseas Thai Cultural Council under Thailand's Ministry of Culture, was held in partnership with the Mongolia Honorary Consul in Phuket and Phang-nga, and the Thai Honorary Consul in Mongolia.

Prominent Thai companies that attended the event included Bumrungrad International Hospital, Bangkok Hospital (BDMS), MEDEZE Group, Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services, Star Money, Nextgoal Business and Consultant, and VST ECS (Thailand) Co. Several of these companies expressed interest in market entry and cooperation initiatives in Mongolia, focusing on spa, traditional Thai medicine, and health services sectors.

During the event, Nattapong Punthakeirtpaisarn, Mongolia Honorary Consul of Phuket and Phang-nga, referred to it as "the first jointly organized initiative between the Thai and Mongolian private sectors." Nattapong also confirmed plans for a return mission in September 2026, which he referred to as the "Chinggis Khan Mission." This mission will involve an expanded range of industries and cultural activities.

Some Thai corporations received strong interest from Mongolian partners for future collaboration. For instance, Next Goal Marketing and Business Consultant Co., Ltd. introduced M Gallery MontAzure, a beachfront real estate project in Phuket, along with integrated health and wellness tourism services for Mongolian visitors. N2A Longevity Partner, led by Arunee Thiemhong, expressed enthusiasm for building a wellness tourism network in Mongolia.

The partnership involves joint wellness tourism promotions, sharing of best practices in healthcare services, and development of health and wellness resorts tailored for tourists from both countries. These efforts are expected to include training exchanges and possible joint ventures between Thai wellness brands and Mongolian enterprises.

For Mongolia, this agreement opens avenues to develop its nascent wellness tourism and modern healthcare infrastructure, attracting international visitors and enhancing local health standards. Thailand stands to strengthen its position as a regional wellness and medical tourism hub, expanding its market influence into Central Asia. This collaboration is expected to boost bilateral tourism flows and economic ties.

Dr Otgonbayar Maidar of Endogen Medical Hospital stated that the partnership would significantly improve Mongolian healthcare through patient referrals and knowledge exchange. Delgersaikhan Borkhuu, Mongolia's Minister of Roads and Transport Development, discussed investment opportunities, including airport expansion and the potential for year-round direct flights between Thailand and Mongolia.

Encouraged by the event's success, Nattapong confirmed plans for a return mission in September 2026 with an expanded range of industries and cultural activities. The upcoming mission, dubbed the "Chinggis Khan Mission," is set to further solidify the strategic and mutually beneficial partnership between Thailand and Mongolia.
