Teterow Election of 2026 – Where Have the Contenders Vanished?
The upcoming mayoral election in Teterow, scheduled for March 1, 2026, has seen no official candidates throw their hat into the ring as of yet. According to the election office, no documents have been received from any candidates, and there are no reports of concrete moves from potential independent candidates.
The incumbent mayor, Andreas Lange, has not yet announced whether he will seek re-election. Matthias Hantel, city councilor and chairman of the CDU faction, has expressed his intention to run for mayor, but he has not yet submitted his official papers.
Candidates for the office of mayor in Teterow must submit a written application, a declaration of eligibility and willingness to serve, and proof of eligibility docs before December 16, 2025. This includes a statement on their personal prerequisites for candidacy, information on persons of trust, and a certificate of good conduct.
Election Officer Ricarda Martens views the current lack of candidates as unremarkable, attributing it to the extensive docs required. The election announcement was made in July, giving interested parties enough time to compile the necessary docs before the deadline.
It is worth noting that the mayoral election in Teterow is not considered to be highly sought after so far. However, with the deadline for submitting docs fast approaching, it will be interesting to see if any more candidates step forward.
Stay tuned for updates on the Teterow mayoral election as more information becomes available.
