In the game against FV Bonn-Endenich this Whit Monday, the team will struggle to cope with the numerous absences, as Marvin Steiger has sustained a severe injury. The youth squads are cup-crazy. Here's a contribution from SV 09

With whispers of the so-called elusive "golden banana" silenced for now, coach Kevin Kruth and his assistant Andy Habl focus on using the final sprint to test out ideas for the next season.

Some of these innovative tactics were already visible in the previous game, where effective combinations passed through the center generated promising plays in the initial 20 minutes. Unfortunately, the efficiency in front of the goal was lacking, leaving only one goal as a meager return.

Now, points must be earned in the closing stages of the season to bring a solid second half of the season to a victorious conclusion. On Whit Monday (3:15 PM), it's time to face FV Bonn-Endenich, who are already relegated.

In this match and the following game a few days later against Bonner SC, the team aims to bid farewell in style. "We are weary as the absences drain us," the coach acknowledges the chief hindrance over the past weeks.

Young player Ole Tillmann is hopeful to make his first starting eleven appearance and to get a taste of the Middle Rhine League action even more than he already has. On the other hand, the veterans, like Marvin Steiger, who suffered a torn cruciate ligament and meniscus in training, are out of the picture.

Additionally, Sami Akremi, Eray Sariaydin, Yadigar Dogan, Saiffi Ayadi, and Rexhep Ajdari, who received a red card in the match against Siegburg, are also unavailable. Fortunately, Jonas Rücker returns to the squad after his shinbone injury, and Nils Lück can potentially feature in a full ninety minutes.

Cup Mania Among the Young Guns

The promising talents of SV Bergisch Gladbach 09 are brimming with excitement—it's cup time at the district level. This weekend, the trophies will be awarded, and no less than three teams of the 09ers hope to claim the cup. The starting scenarios are diverse when the games commences in Marienheide.

The U19 enters the match against TV Hoffnungsthal as the overwhelming favorites, who ended the special league season in 4th place. The 09ers, too, are in 4th place, but two divisions higher in the Middle Rhine League. The team of coach Tobias Felser will not disregard the opponent and will approach the A-Juniors final with a sense of urgency.

The U17 faces a formidable special league team in the B-Juniors final. SV Frömmersbach finished in 3rd place, just behind the U16 of SV 09 and TuS Untereschbach. The team from the Oberbergisches has demonstrated its strength by challenging strong teams and causing problems for them. Nevertheless, the 09ers are favored as the upper-tier squad that has already secured the championship in the district league, gained promotion to the Middle Rhine League long ago, and remains unbeaten.

On equal footing, the competitors meet in the C-Juniors final. The FV Wiehl and the U15 of SV 09 are both district league teams, albeit in different groups. The Oberbergish team is still battling for the vice-championship. The SV 09 team has already secured the title, winning all nine games in the district league and leaving their rivals far behind. However, the matches against FV Wiehl are always intense, and the outcome of the final is undetermined.

Championship Race

A number of SV 09 teams will be active in the league over the Whitsun weekend.

After the cup final, the U19 faces a Mittelrheinliga match against VfL Vichttal on Sunday (11 am). Coach Tobias Felser's team is on the cusp of securing a spot in the top six, which would ensure direct qualification for the top regional league next season.

A 2:2 draw away at Fortuna Köln on Monday evening has virtually sealed this position. The hosts went ahead early, but SV 09 responded confidently. Kosta Weber equalized in the 22nd minute, and Giuliano Nizeti put the team ahead just after the break. This lead persisted until just before the end, when the Fortunen equalized through Luka Munetic. Against VfL Vichttal, the team aims to protect their 4th place and improve upon their successful second half of the season.

The U17 wants to maintain its undefeated streak in the penultimate match of the season against SC West Köln II. The Ehrenfeld team has had a good showing thus far, and aims to halt the 09ers on their victory march. The team boasts the best defense in the league and has conceded one fewer goal than their opponents. However, the latter has outscored them by 35 goals and is determined to utilize its offensive prowess to its advantage.

A crucial match awaits the U14 in the district league to improve its standing on the table. In the six-team group, SV 09 is in 5th place, seven points behind the opponent Germania Zündorf. A win could potentially bridge the gap and move the team up the rankings.
