"Testing Out Triumph's TF 450-E Enduro: Making a Solid Debut in the Gritty Motorbike Market"
The motorcycling world is abuzz with the latest offering from Triumph - the TF 450-E Sport Enduro. This new addition to the lineup is a testament to the brand's commitment to excellence, with input from four-time Enduro World Champion Ivan Cervantes and legendary Supercross champion Ricky Carmichael.
The TF 450-E proves to be a good compromise between maneuverability and stability. Its hand-welded aluminum bridge frame, complete with two subframes, provides a solid foundation, while its wide and stable handlebar ensures precise control. The bike features a 449 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with four valves and an overhead camshaft, producing 58.6 hp. Despite its power, the engine occasionally stalls in very tight corners and at low revs.
The TF 450-E's suspension components, sourced from KYB, offer 300 mm of travel at the front and 313 mm at the rear, ensuring a smooth ride over various terrains. The bike is equipped with four buttons on the handlebar for launch control, quickshifter, slip regulation, and engine mappings, providing riders with a host of customisation options.
The seat of the TF 450-E is high, requiring a leg swing of 955 mm to sit on. The bike runs on a 21-inch wire-spoked wheel at the front and an 18-inch one at the rear, with Michelin Enduro2 tires, offering excellent grip and handling.
The TF 450-E's performance is impressive, with the bike drifting controllably and precisely through the gravel, easily lifting the front wheel when crossing obstacles with a small gas blast and a pull on the handlebar. It follows the intended line accurately on a narrow trail.
The bike starts instantly and runs smoothly, with a deep but not too loud rumble. The Brembo brakes, featuring a two-piston caliper at the front with a 260 mm Galfer brake disc, and a brake at the rear also from Brembo, ensure reliable stopping power. The TF 450-E weighs 116.8 kg with a full 8.3-liter tank.
The TF 450-E is priced at 11,595 euros and is available at selected Triumph dealers. Alongside the TF 450-E, Triumph is also introducing the TF 250-E, catering to a wider range of riders.
Besides Ivan Cervantes and Ricky Carmichael, the development of the Triumph TF 450-E Sport Enduro also involved Triumph's engineering and design team, ensuring a bike that is not just fast and agile but also a joy to ride.
