Testimony ordeal left Kid Cudi feeling utterly displeased in the trial involving Diddy
In a surprising turn of events, Grammy-winning rapper Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi) took the stand in Sean 'Diddy' Combs' federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial in May 2025. Cudi testified primarily to support his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, a key witness in the case.
Cudi described testifying as an unpleasant experience, saying he "hated every minute" of it. Initially, he had declined to testify twice, but a subpoena compelled him to appear. His testimony included recounting an incident from 2011 when he was dating Ventura. He claimed that Combs broke into his Hollywood Hills home and was behind the firebombing of his car weeks later.
During his testimony, Cudi spoke calmly and framed his participation as an act of support for Cassie, whom he considers a friend. He also spoke positively about seeing her life progress after their brief relationship, mentioning her marriage and children.
Cudi's relationship with Ventura began during a break in her relationship with Combs. He described their time together as "crazy" and "chaotic." He also testified about the abusive nature of Ventura's relationship with Combs, corroborating her claims against the music mogul.
The sentencing for Sean 'Diddy' Combs is scheduled for October. In July, he was convicted on two counts of interstate prostitution. Cudi's testimony added a significant layer to the case, providing a personal account of the alleged abusive behaviour and the threats made by Combs.
