In the recent ENG vs IND series, fast bowler Prasidh Krishna from Karnataka has been making headlines. Known for his height, high-arm action, natural lift, and consistent bowling at speeds of up to 140kmph, Krishna has proven to be a valuable asset for the Indian team.

During the Oval Test, Krishna's performance was particularly noteworthy. He conceded at just 3.90 an over, making him the only Indian bowler to go under four in the Test. His 4 for 62 was crucial for India, as they needed breakthroughs before bringing on the spinners.

Krishna's Oval Test performance was a defining moment in his Test career. He found himself bowling like he finally belonged, having made significant improvements to his technique, fitness, and tactical acumen.

According to former Indian pacer T.A. Sekhar, Krishna's focus on technical adjustments to increase pace, maintain consistent line and length, and develop the ability to deliver "magic balls" with extra bounce and pace has been key to his success. Sekhar emphasized the role of proper biomechanics and increased fitness, including long-distance running to enhance athleticism and running style.

Bowling coach Morne Morkel praised Krishna's progress over the series, recognizing his growing confidence, improved consistency, and ability to use extra bounce and pace to create "magic balls" that can trouble batsmen in Test cricket. Morkel indicated that with sustained backing and confidence from the team, Krishna has the potential to become a major Test asset for India.

In the Oval Test, these improvements manifested in Krishna's tactical approach. He used a series of short deliveries to unsettle Ben Duckett and then strategically bowled a fuller length outside off stump, inducing a loose drive that resulted in an edge to slip. This dismissal was pivotal and showcased Krishna's evolving game intelligence and execution under pressure.

However, Krishna's Test career has so far been marked more by struggle than stability. His debut was underwhelming, leaking 93 runs in 20 overs in South Africa's first-innings total of 408. In England, his lengths came under scrutiny, conceding runs at 5.33 an over, picking up six wickets at 55.16.

Despite this, Krishna's refined technique, improved fitness, and tactical maturity helped improve his Test bowling impact in the 2025 England series, particularly in the final Test at The Oval, where his key wickets and disciplined bowling kept India competitive in a difficult environment on flat pitches.
