Terry Matalas Discloses Insights Regarding 'Vision Quest'
Marvel's upcoming miniseries, Vision Quest, is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2026, bringing together familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the world of Star Trek[1]. The series, which reunites Terry Matalas with actors Todd Stashwick and Orla Brady, who previously worked together on Star Trek: Picard, promises a blend of Marvel Comics lore with a thematic narrative reminiscent of Star Trek's explorations of identity, memory, and purpose[1].
Todd Stashwick plays Paladin, a Marvel Comics mercenary who has interacted with heroes like Daredevil and Spider-Man[2]. In Vision Quest, Paladin is tracking down Paul Bettany's White Vision[2]. Orla Brady, known for her role as Laris/Tallinn in Star Trek: Picard, portrays FRIDAY, an important AI character in the MCU universe[2].
The series also brings back James Spader as Ultron, last seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron, with Ultron set to appear in a "unique" way[3]. Vision's reawakening in Vision Quest is expected to cause trouble for him in connecting to his old memories[4].
Joining the cast are Ruaridh Mollica, T'Nia Miller, Faran Tahir, and Emily Hampshire, with Matalas comparing Vision's journey in Vision Quest to Spock's journey in Star Trek IV[1]. Production of Vision Quest involved speaking in Star Trek shorthand, suggesting a series rich in sci-fi elements and character-driven storytelling[5].
Orla Brady's character, F.R.I.D.A.Y., is the successor to Kerry Condon's F.R.I.D.A.Y. in Marvel films[2]. The series also introduces EDITH, an AI from Spider-Man: Far From Home, played by Emily Hampshire[2].
Vision Quest is part of Phase Six of the MCU and is expected to be a significant addition to the MCU's expanding narrative focus on artificial intelligence and humanity[2]. The series is being helmed by Terry Matalas, the showrunner known for his work on Star Trek: Picard[6].
No trailers or photos were released during the panel, but fans are eagerly awaiting more information about the roles of Ruaridh Mollica, T'Nia Miller, Faran Tahir, Emily Hampshire, and James Spader in the upcoming series[7].
