Pakistan Conducts Intelligence-Based Operation in Balochistan's Khuzdar District

Pakistan's security forces have carried out an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Khuzdar district of Balochistan on September 17, 2021. The operation was aimed at eliminating militants belonging to the Indian proxy group "Fitna al-Hindustan."

According to reports, four terrorists were killed in the operation. The commander who led the security forces in this operation was not publicly named in available sources.

The operation was conducted in response to the reported presence of militants in the region. The militants were actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area, and weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the terrorists after the operation.

The surge in cross-border terror incidents in Pakistan, particularly in the KP and Balochistan provinces, is a concern for the government. The return of Taliban rulers in Afghanistan has been identified as a significant factor contributing to this escalation.

Pakistan has consistently urged Afghanistan to prevent its soil from being used by groups such as the TTP to carry out attacks inside Pakistan's territory. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and the Majeed Brigade are reportedly operating from Afghan sanctuaries, according to Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reaffirmed that the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out Indian-sponsored terrorism from the country. In August, there was a sharp escalation in militant attacks in Pakistan, with incidents surging by 74% compared to July. The Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) recorded 194 fatalities from militant attacks during August.

The border between Pakistan and Afghanistan spans around 2,500 kilometres with several significant crossing points, making it crucial for both countries to maintain security and prevent the infiltration of militants. The ISPR has not provided further details about the operation, but it is clear that Pakistan's security forces remain vigilant in their efforts to combat terrorism.
