Terrorists backed by India eliminated by security forces in Zhob, according to ISPR's statement

In a special sitting attended by over 2,500 students from various universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Lt General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the Director-General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), shared insights on the nation's security and ongoing border tensions.

Chaudhry emphasised the commitment of the security forces to securing the nation's frontiers, particularly along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, which has seen an increase in terrorism linked to militant groups primarily based in or supported from Pakistan.

India has accused Pakistan of sponsoring terrorists targeting Indian-administered Kashmir and border areas. This allegation is supported by numerous security operations, such as Operation Sindoor and Operation Keller in 2025, which targeted terror camps and eliminated militants affiliated with Pakistan-based groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front, allegedly supported by Pakistan. The Pahalgam attack in April 2025, attributed to Pakistani nationals linked to LeT, further fuels India’s assertion of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism along this border.

On the Pakistan side, the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other groups use Afghan territory to launch attacks, including against Chinese interests linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). This has prompted counterterrorism efforts and speculative improvements in Taliban-Pakistan cooperation against terrorism.

During his speech, Chaudhry accused the 'Afghan gentry' of giving refuge to terrorists and urged Afghanistan not to play into the hands of India. He also mentioned receiving money from the Indian government as part of his accusation.

In a significant operation on August 10-11, the security forces killed three Indian-sponsored terrorists in Zhob district along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. A deliberate sanitisation operation was conducted in the surrounding areas of Sambaza, Zhob, and weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the terrorists killed in the operation. Since the anti-infiltration operation, a total of 50 terrorists have been eliminated.

Chaudhry reiterated the security forces' aim to prevent peace, stability, and progress of Pakistan from being sabotaged. As the DG ISPR, he is committed to maintaining transparency and keeping the nation informed about the efforts being made to secure its borders and protect its citizens.
