Pahalgam Terror Attack: Ricky Kej Expresses Shock, Faith in Government

India: Three-time Grammy Award-winning musician Ricky Kej voice his outrage over the Pahalgam terror attack, stating the incident was "absolutely devastating."

The attack occurred on Tuesday, targeting tourists at the Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, resulting in the deaths of 26 Indians and one Nepali citizen, with numerous others injured. Since the 2019 Pulwama strike, this attack marks one of the deadliest in the region.

In a chat with ANI, Kej shared, "I can't even express the shock and sadness I feel. There's no other way to describe it."

Following the attack, the government vowed severe punishment for the terrorists responsible and their backers. The opposition parties also pledged their full support for any actions against the terror attack's perpetrators.

The government's response has encompassed the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960, closure of the integrated Attari Check Post, and suspension of tourist visas for Pakistani citizens, except for long-term, diplomatic, and official visas, effective from April 27 [1][2][4].

"Right now, I have complete faith in the Government of India and will wholeheartedly support them in any decisions they make right now," added Kej [2][3].

In other news, the renowned musician performed during the World Health Summit in the capital. Kej discussed the event, his performance, and his collaboration with UNICEF.

"Performing at the World Health Summit is a tremendous honor. I'm here as a UNICEF celebrity supporter. I've been working with UNICEF since 2018, and it's been an amazing collaboration between us," said Kej. "Today, I'm honored to be part of a focus on climate change and its impact on the health, well-being, and growth of children, something that's very close to my heart" [3].

Kej first won a Grammy in 2015 for Winds of Samsara in the Best New Age category and later for Divine Tides with Stewart Copeland in 2022. In 2023, they received another honor for Divine Tides. He secured his fourth Grammy nomination for 'Break of Dawn' in 2025 [1].
