Switcheroo in the PBA: Romeo and Manuel to Terrafirma, Tiongson and Cahilig to San Miguel

🏀 PBA news alert! 📢 Swapping spots are San Miguel's Terrence Romeo and Vic Manuel, heading to Terrafirma, and Juami Tiongson and Andreas Cahilig making their way to San Miguel, as per the latest trade announcement.

The change comes after San Miguel, following a semifinal exit during the Governors' Cup, decided to revamp their lineup by dropping Romeo and Manuel.

Romeo, age 32, has been a key player for San Miguel, notching three championships and earning a Finals MVP title in his six-year reign. Manuel, at 37, contributed to the franchise's title haul after joining in 2021.

Meanwhile, Tiongson and Cahilig, both aged 33, are jumping at the opportunity to fight for a championship, as they only made the playoffs once during their tenure with Terrafirma.

The duo played crucial roles, helping Terrafirma advance to the quarterfinals during the Philippine Cup's previous season, giving San Miguel a tough run before eventually falling short.

However, after that playoff appearance, the Dyip's core took a significant hit. Javi Gomez de Lianño moved to Korea, and Stephen Holt and Isaac Go were shipped off to Barangay Ginebra, plunging the team back into the losing zone.

Rather disappointingly, Terrafirma garnered a 1-9 record during the Governors' Cup.

Assuming no last-minute surprises, Romeo and Manuel are set to make their debut for the Dyip against Converge in the Commissioner's Cup's opening game on November 27th at the PhilSports Arena. On the flip side, the Beermen are pitted against Phoenix on December 3rd.
