Bundeybloode: Hasenhüttler Get Caned After a Scram, No Europa Leag' for Wolfsburg Again

Hey there! It's yer pal, here to spill the tea on a rather juicy scone in the Bundesliga world. Ralph Hasenhüttler, 57, the Austrian coach with a bit of a whiff of charisma, got the ol' heave-ho by VfL Wolfsburg after limping around for only ten months.

Missing out on European action and a monumental eight-game winless streak didn't cut the mustard with the higher-ups. And, not even the backing of his predecessor Niko Kovac - the current BVB coach, mind you - could save ol' Hasen from getting the boot.

Kovac, who was the dude Hasen replaced, had pleaded for more chill with the whole football coach situation after a 4-0 drubbing against Borussia Dortmund. "Folks, let's face it, in this crazy Bundesliga scene, y'all be firin' coaches every bloomin' minute," he said about the coachin' drama at Wolfsburg.

Hasen took over from Kovac as the new poggie in town back in March 2024, and only managed to save Wolfsburg from relegation. He was supposed to be gunning for Europe again this season. Sports honcho Peter Christiansen gave the coach a pat on the back for steadying the ship, according to the club's statement.

But the results in recent months proved to be as sweet as a bucket of cold sick for the club, leading to a reaction now. Along with Hasen, his right-hand men Craig Fleming, Patrick Hasen, Martin Raschick, and Rainer Widmayer will also be taking a hike.

The sackin' didn't come as much of a surprise, though maybe not until the end of the season. Apparently, Wolfsburg's already been sniffin' around for a substitution. Hasen himself seemed to sense that he wouldn't be in Wolfsburg next season despite boasting a contract till June 2026.

With Hasen off to pasture, U19 coach Daniel Bauer will be tasked with leading the first team for the final two league games. The first match is against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Friday (20:30 CET/DAZN), and the second is away at Borussia Mönchengladbach on May 17. Bauer will attend his first ever training session with the pros on Monday.

Wolves in Sheep's Clothing

VfL Wolfsburg hasn't exactly been the picture of stability since magnificently qualifying for the Champions League in 2021. Christiansen's the third sports honcho since then, and now Hasen's the fourth coach to pack his bags after Oliver Glasner's exit. That makes ol' Hasen the tenth top-tier coach in just ten years.

  1. Despite his charisma, Ralph Hasenhüttler, the Austrian coach, was let go by VfL Wolfsburg after only ten months due to poor performance, resulting in no European action for the club.
  2. The dismissal of Hasenhüttler follows a series of coach changes at Wolfsburg, with Peter Christiansen being the third sports honcho since 2021.
  3. With Hasenhüttler gone, U19 coach Daniel Bauer will take over as the first team's coach for the final two league games, first against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Friday and then away at Borussia Mönchengladbach on May 17.
  4. According to rumors, Wolfsburg is already considering replacements for Bauer, with Stefan Lerch and Bo Henriksen being potential candidates.
