Tensions escalate in Jammu and Kashmir following the truce between India and Pakistan, resulting in bombings.

In the heart of Jammu and Kashmir, unexpected explosions echoed the skies after India and Pakistan reached a truce, as reported by Reuters. A local onlooker spotted shells flying over Jammu.

Tensions had climbed high between the nations following the April 22 attack, in which a horde of assailants targeted tourists in the disputed Jammu and Kashmir. India accused Pakistan of orchestrating the attack, whilst Pakistan dismissed these claims as politically charged and unfair.

On May 10, President Donald Trump of the U.S. revealed that the two countries had agreed upon a complete truce. This news was echoed in New Delhi and Islamabad, with India's first deputy foreign minister, Vikram Misri, stating that the truce commenced at 17:00 (14:30 Moscow time). Pakistan's foreign minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, appreciated the intervention of all the involved countries but warned that any further hostilities from New Delhi would provoke a strong response.

Before this, the State Duma suggested seeking Russia's intervention in the conflict between Pakistan and India.

While the recent news revolves around the ceasefire agreement of May 2025, it's worth noting that in May 2020, India and Pakistan were embroiled in ongoing tensions without any significant, comprehensive ceasefire agreement, such as the one finalized in 2025. These clashes predominantly surged along the Line of Control (LOC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

Following the ceasefire in May 2025, efforts focused on stabilizing the region and offering relief to those affected by the conflict. However, the long-term outcomes and developments post-ceasefire are still evolving.

A ceasefire agreement was confirmed between India and Pakistan in May 2025, following a series of tense war-and-conflicts in the heart of Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, in April 2022, a significant attack on tourists in the disputed region heightened tensions between the two nations, with accusations of blame exchanged in world politics. Prior to this, the State Duma in Russia had suggested seeking intervention in the conflict. Despite the recent arrival of a truce, lasting peace and stability in the region remains uncertain, as political developments post-ceasefire are still unfolding. An eyewitness in Jammu reported sighting shells flying over the city as the ceasefire was taking effect.
