Aryna Sabalenka, the reigning US Open champion, has announced her withdrawal from the WTA 1000 event in Beijing, scheduled to begin on September 24. The Belarusian tennis star took to China's social media platform Weibo to express her disappointment at missing this year's tournament.

Sabalenka, who expressed her eagerness to see her Chinese fans soon, values their support and is optimistic about her tennis career. In a quote published by AFP, she said, "I am very sad to announce my withdrawal from the WTA 1000 event in Beijing. I sustained a small injury during the US Open, and I am focusing on recovery to quickly return to the court at 100%."

The 2025 China Open will indeed be missed by the 24-year-old. Last year, she reached the quarter-finals in Beijing, and her absence will undoubtedly be felt. However, Sabalenka remains hopeful about returning to Beijing in the future.

Interestingly, the quote does not provide any new information regarding her injury or recovery status. Sabalenka is, however, scheduled to defend her title at the Wuhan Open, the final 1000 WTA tournament of 2025, which comes next on her schedule.

Sabalenka won the US Open for the second year running 10 days ago. Her victory marked her fifth Grand Slam title and elevated her to the world number two ranking. Despite the setback, the tennis star remains upbeat about her future performances.

The Wuhan Open is set to commence on October 1, and fans eagerly await Sabalenka's participation. Let's hope for a swift recovery, and we can look forward to seeing Sabalenka back on the court soon, ready to entertain her fans with her powerful gameplay.
