Tennis star from Australia openly discloses incidents of pre-match anxiety, admitting she experienced an unintentional mishap moments before her first match at Wimbledon.

In the sweltering heat of Wimbledon, Russian-born Australian tennis player Daria Kasatkina faced a challenging start to her opening round match against Emiliana Arango from Colombia. Just five meters before stepping onto the court, Kasatkina experienced a bout of nerves that led to vomiting, a stark reminder of the intense pressure and anxiety athletes face in high-stakes matches.

Despite this setback, Kasatkina showed remarkable resilience, quickly regaining her composure and focus to compete. Her fiancé and Olympic skater, Natalia Zabiiako, was in attendance to offer support. The pair even had a chance encounter with Aussie Hollywood actress Cate Blanchett at the tournament.

Kasatkina's indifferent run of form on grass courts this season was evident, with three consecutive first-round exits before Wimbledon. However, she delivered an honest outlook on the stresses faced by professional tennis players on the WTA Tour, and her determination to overcome these challenges was evident in her performance.

The first set was a closely contested battle, with both players forcing each other to save four break points apiece at 3-2 and 3-3. Kasatkina managed to stop the set from going to a tie break with a break at 7-5, giving her a one-set lead.

Kasatkina lost her serve first in the second set but fought back to take a 4-2 lead and secure a berth in the second round with a score of 7-5 7-3. This victory marks a significant step for Kasatkina, who has previously reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon in 2018, her highest finish at the tournament.

Looking ahead, Kasatkina will face world No 115 Irina-Camelia Bego of Romania in the second round of the Ladies Singles. With her grit and determination, Kasatkina is poised to make a strong run in this year's Wimbledon championships.

News of Daria Kasatkina's impressive win at Wimbledon made headlines, with her resilience after a pre-match bout of nerves adding an extra layer of interest to her story. Despite initially struggling on the tennis court due to her indifferent form on grass this season, Kasatkina's performance in the sports world has been hailed as a testament to her determination, particularly in the face of the stresses and challenges faced by professional tennis players on the WTA Tour.
