Tennis Star Coco Gauff Clinches 2025 French Open Title, Scoring a Whopping $2.9 Million in Cash Prizes

Coco Gauff, the young powerhouse, snatched victory from the jaws of defeat against Aryna Sabalenka in a thrilling 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 finish at the French Open. This triumph marked her second Grand Slam win following her U.S. Open victory, where she also overcame a set deficit to conquer Sabalenka.

Being the highest-paid female athlete in the world, Gauff took home a hefty €2.55 million ($2.9 million) for her victory. This title was her first Women's Tennis Association (WTA) win of the year, after falling short in the finals to Jasmine Paolini in Rome and Sabalenka in Madrid. Interestingly, Gauff boasts a remarkable seven-match winning streak in finals. The 21-year-old's tenth career title now adds €27.3 million to her impressive career earnings.

Originally the second seed, Gauff dethroned the tournament's top seed, Sabalenka, in the first No. 1 vs. No. 2 final at Roland Garros since 2013. Back then, Serena Williams clinched her victory over Maria Sharapova. Before Gauff, Williams was the last American to reign at the French Open, triumphing in 2015.

The captivating encounter between these two extraordinary players extended over 2 hours and 38 minutes.

Gauff's astronomical rise to global fame took flight, in part, courtesy of Team8. Established by tennis legend Roger Federer, along with his longtime agent Tony Godsick after their departure from IMG Worldwide in 2012, Team8 has been representing Gauff since she turned professional at the age of 14 in 2018.

Recently, Gauff bid farewell to Team8 and launched Coco Gauff Enterprises. In conjunction with talent firm WME, the new venture aims to expand beyond tennis, promoting Gauff's passion for philanthropy, business, and beyond. WME will guide and assist in managing her burgeoning empire, albeit without any ownership stake.

Last year, Gauff accumulated an astounding $30.4 million, including $9.4 million in prize money and an estimated $21 million from sponsorships, appearance fees, and bonuses. In the WTA Finals of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, she outperformed Zheng Qinwen, pocketing a staggering $4.8 million for the title – the biggest payout ever for a women's tennis event.

Among Gauff's noteworthy endorsement deals is her partnership with New Balance, a relationship established when she was merely 14 years old. Following a recent contract renegotiation in 2022, her deal with New Balance now ranks as one of the wealthiest in the women's game. Other esteemed brands in Gauff's endorsement portfolio include L'Oréal, UPS, Head, Barilla, Baker Tilly, Bose, Rolex, and Naked, making her a force to be reckoned with both on and off the court.
