Is Alexander Zverev just getting old, or was he genuinely forgetting his perfect record against Brandon Nakashima? The star tennis player found himself at a loss when asked about their history at a press conference, claiming he couldn't recall a single match they've played. Zverev goes up against Nakashima in the quarterfinals this Friday at the Stuttgart Open.

Brandon who? Apparently, Zverev was drawing a blank when it came to the American up-and-comer. However, once reminded of their past encounters, the chuckling 23-year-old acknowledged, "You're right, I have played him three times."

A quick glance at the stats reveals Zverev takes home the trophy each time they meet on the ATP Tour. Their most recent matchup was at the US Open last year, which Zverev won comfortably. The German tactician doesn't plan on changing his strategy for the Stuttgart showdown. "I'll stick to what I know," he grinned.

Earlier this week, Zverev bagged a win against Corentin Moutet in his opening match at the Stuttgart grass tournament. With a 6-2, 7-6 (9-7) victory under his belt, the top seed off to a strong start in his 6-year return to the event. Moutet, the left-handed Frenchman, gave Zverev a run for his money in longer rallies on the grass, leaving both players visibly frustrated at times.

As the afternoon heat kicked in, tensions rose, with Moutet taking issue with the referee at one point. In the end, Zverev triumphed, sealing the match on his first match point, despite the close ties in the second set.

"I'm not sure if it's age catching up, or if I genuinely forgot, but I couldn't recall our past matches when asked about Brandon Nakashima during a press conference," Alexander Zverev admitted, moments before their scheduled tennis match in the quarterfinals of the Stuttgart Open. Despite his momentary lapse of memory, the young star and current 23-year-old champion plans to stick to his winning strategy on the court.
