Coco Gauff Topples Madison Keys in Tight Three-Setter at the French Open

In a gripping contest that spanned two hours and 11 minutes, 21-year-old Coco Gauff emerged victorious against 30-year-old Madison Keys, securing a 6-7(6), 6-4, 6-1 victory to advance to the semi-finals.
The rollercoaster encounter saw the duo trade breaks in the opening set, with each player demonstrating their determination to edge ahead. However, a series of double faults from Gauff cost her the set, leaving her one set down at 6-7.
Gauff struggled to find her footing at the beginning of the second set, surrendering a break to Keys and teetering on the brink of elimination at 4-4. Regrouping and exploiting Keys' forehand errors, Gauff roared back to claim a commanding 4-1 lead.
However, Gauff's faltered, stuttering through a sloppy service game and committing her ninth double fault of the match, effectively reducing her advantage to 4-2. Keys seized the opportunity to rebound, fighting back to even the score at 4-4.
In a remarkable turn of events, both players traded service breaks once more, with Gauff ultimately stealing a 5-4 lead when Keys' forehand landed in the net. Gauff edged closer to snatching the second set, even securing a set point before eventually clinching it 6-4.
As the final set commenced, the two combatants engaged in a 21-stroke rally, signaling the ferocity of the battle to come. Keys initially showed signs of revitalization, inching ahead to 2-1. But Gauff quickly regained her composure, rattling off the next four games to storm into the last four for the third time in six visits.
Speaking to on-court interviewer Mats Wilander, an exhilarated Gauff expressed her admiration for Keys and her eagerness to savor the occasion before preparations for her upcoming match against unseeded Frenchwoman Lois Boisson.
"I knew I had to run to keep up with Madison," Gauff shared, acknowledging Keys' impressive play. "It was not an easy match, and I'm excited to be in the semi-finals again. I will savour this victory and get ready for the next match."
Boisson advanced to the semis after ousting sixth seed Mirra Andreeva 7-6, 6-3, becoming the first Frenchwoman to reach the semi-final since Marion Bartoli in 2011.
