Smashin' It Forward: Carlos Alcaraz Reaches Semifinals at French Open in Record Time
Tennis prodigy Carlos Alcaraz soaring towards the semifinals
Share Tweet Whatsapp Email Print Copy Link The current Spanish tennis sensation, Carlos Alcaraz, is leaving opponents bewildered at the French Open in Paris. His lightning-fast performance against Tommy Paul in the quarterfinals came as no surprise.
Title defender Carlos Alcaraz has sailed into the semifinals at the French Open with an impressive display of tennis prowess. The 22-year-old Spaniard recently trounced Tommy Paul, the world No. 12, with scores of 6:0, 6:1, 6:4, leaving Paul with no chances.
In the semifinals on Friday, Alcaraz is set to face Lorenzo Musetti, who recently secured his first-ever appearance in the Stade Roland Garros semifinals. Musetti knocked out American Frances Tiafoe in a nail-biting match, winning 6:2, 4:6, 7:5, 6:2. Alexander Zverev is fighting for his place in the semifinals on Wednesday (20.15 Uhr/Eurosport and live updates at ntv.de).
Alcaraz kicked off the game on Court Philippe-Chatrier with a fury. The second-ranked player of the world quickly secured the first seven games and controlled the match with ease. In stark contrast to previous rounds, where he momentarily faltered, losing five games in three sets, Alcaraz maintained his focus throughout, securing his victory in just 1 hour and 34 minutes. "I just had an incredible feeling on the court today," said the dominant Alcaraz.
The match between Musetti and Tiafoe was notably more tense. Musetti continued the strong form on clay he exhibited earlier in the season, reaching the finals in Monte Carlo and making it to the semifinals in Madrid and Rome.
The decisive factor was the third and fourth sets, where Tiafoe seemed slightly off his game. "The third set was crucial," said Musetti. “It was difficult to keep up with me, but I managed to muster up some extra energy when I needed it.”
A dramatic moment occurred when Musetti accidentally lobbed a ball toward a lineswoman, nearly hitting her. Musetti received a warning for the incident and later apologized for the mishap. "I think the umpire saw that there was no malicious intent behind it—that's why he allowed me to carry on playing," said Musetti.

I'm not going to be able to face Carlos Alcaraz on the tennis court, especially considering his impressive performance at the French Open. He's currently playing a sport I admire—tennis—and his dominance in the game is evident with his recent win over Tommy Paul.
