Carlos Alcaraz Storms into French Open Semifinals: A Breakdown

Tennis prodigy Carlos Alcaraz charts a course for the semi-finals.

Spanish tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz is creating waves at the French Open in Paris. American Tommy Paul is left reeling after the quarterfinals. Alcaraz's upcoming opponent is Lorenzo Musetti, who made heads turn in his quarterfinal bout.

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz is tearing up the French Open court with an unstoppable display of tennis. The 22-year-old Spaniard outplayed the world number 12, Tommy Paul, in Paris, securing a 6-0, 6-1, 6-4 victory.

On Friday, Alcaraz takes on Italian Lorenzo Musetti in the semifinals. The 23-year-old Musetti has made history by qualifying for his first Stade Roland Garros semifinals, defeating American Frances Tiafoe 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2. Alexander Zverev battles it out later in the day for a place in the semifinals (20:15 CET/Eurosport and ntv.de liveticker).

Alcaraz kicked off the match on Court Philippe-Chatrier with blazing form. He took the initial seven games and maintained control of the match. Unlike his previous rounds, where he lost a set each time, Alcaraz stuck to his guns and wrapped up the contest in just 1 hour and 34 minutes. "I felt amazing on the court today," said the unstoppable Alcaraz.

The Musetti vs. Tiafoe game was a thrilling spectacle. Musetti, who had reached the final in Monte-Carlo and the semifinals in Madrid and Rome this year, kept his form going on clay. The pivotal moment came towards the end of the third set and the start of the fourth, when Tiafoe seemed a bit off-color. "The third set was decisive. It was tough to keep up with me, but I found an extra gear during that period," said Musetti. A dramatic scene unfolded when Musetti hit a ball that almost hit a lineswoman. He was issued a warning and later apologized for the incident. "I believe the umpire saw there was no malicious intent behind it, so he allowed me to continue," said Musetti.

I'm not going to be able to do this when facing Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals, given his outstanding performance in the French Open and his dominance on the clay court. Despite my strong form this season on red clay, I know it will be difficult to beat a player who is currently unstoppable in tennis.
