Cincinnati Open 2025: Bouzas Maneiro Stuns Fernandez, Auger-Aliassime and Diallo Advance

In a surprising turn of events at the Cincinnati Open 2025, Spanish player Jessica Bouzas Maneiro knocked out the 21st-seeded Leylah Fernandez in the second round of the women's singles, securing a 6-3, 6-3 victory.

Meanwhile, in the men's singles, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Gabriel Diallo, both seeded 23rd and 30th respectively, advanced to the third round. However, the exact opponents for the next round are yet to be officially confirmed.

Auger-Aliassime, who last tasted victory at Wimbledon, hit 14 aces and 30 winners in his match, while Diallo won his second-round encounter against Sebastian Baez with a score of 7-5, 6-4. Both players received byes to the second round.

In the women's doubles, Gabriela Dabrowski of Ottawa and her partner Erin Routliffe of New Zealand clinched their first-round match. They will face Hsieh Su-Wei of Taiwan and Ena Shibahara of Japan in the next round.

Unfortunately, Canadian tennis sensation Victoria Mboko, who soared to 24th in the world rankings, had to withdraw from the Cincinnati Open to rest her injured right wrist. She is expected to return to the court later this month at the U.S. Open, where she will be seeded.

The match between Bouzas Maneiro and Fernandez saw the former capitalise on four of her six breakpoint chances, while Fernandez lost her second match in a row since capturing the D.C. Open title in July.

As the tournament progresses, the detailed draw or bracket information for the third round will be accessible from official tournament or ATP sites. It is currently unknown who Auger-Aliassime and Diallo will face in the next round, but it has been confirmed that Diallo will take on world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, and Auger-Aliassime will meet Arthur Rinderknech.

In the men's singles, Diallo struck nine aces and scored four breakpoints in his match, while Auger-Aliassime saved all four breakpoint chances he faced and converted two of his four opportunities.
