In the ongoing 2025 National Bank Open tournament in Montreal, Poland's Iga Swiatek continues to shine. The current Wimbledon champion has extended her winning streak to an impressive 24 matches, following her victories in the first and second rounds.

Swiatek's journey began with a straight-set win against China's Guo Hanyu, securing a 6-3, 6-1 victory. In the second round, she faced no easy challenge, defeating fellow competitor Amanda Anisimova of the United States, seeded fifth, with scores of 6-4, 7-6 (5).

As of July 31, 2025 (PH time), Swiatek was yet to play her third-round match, which was scheduled against Germany's Eva Lys. Lys had previously advanced to the next round by beating Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-3, 6-4 in a night match.

The National Bank Open features a diverse range of players from different countries, making for an exciting and competitive tournament. Other players who have secured their spots in the next round include the two-time defending champion, Jessica Pegula of the United States, who defeated Greece's Maria Sakkari 7-5, 6-4.

Sixth-seeded Madison Keys of the United States also advanced, winning against Germany's Laura Siegemund 6-2, 6-1. Former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka of Japan also made it through to the next round, coming from behind to beat Russia's Liudmila Samsonova 4-6, 7-6 (6), 6-3.

Swiatek, who played her first match since her dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory over Anisimova in the Wimbledon final, commented that she focused on herself, adjusted to the conditions, and played well in the National Bank Open. She also mentioned that playing the first match on hard court after a long break from the surface can be tricky.

The tournament continues to captivate audiences, with matches being played on multiple days, some even taking place at night. All the mentioned players, including Swiatek, Lys, Pegula, Sakkari, Anisimova, Sun, Keys, Osaka, and Samsonova, have secured their spots in the next round of the National Bank Open. The second-seeded Swiatek is scheduled to play Lys on Friday (Saturday in PH).

Swiatek will look forward to her upcoming tennis match against Eva Lys, as both players have secured their spots in the next round of the National Bank Open. Despite her dominance in sports, Swiatek acknowledged the challenge of playing on hard court after a long break, particularly in a sport like tennis.
