Tennis player Sabine Lisicki assumes control over RTL's television series
Sabine Lisicki, the 35-year-old professional tennis player, is stepping into a new role – acting. The Wimbledon finalist of 2013 is set to make her series debut in the popular RTL show "Alles was zaehlt," which has been running since 2006 and is produced in Cologne.
Lisicki, who was born in Troisdorf, has been a fan of the show since its beginning. She remembers the first advertisement of "Alles was zaehlt" and found it exciting. Now, she is thrilled to be a part of it, expressing joy about being offered a role.
Tennis was introduced as a new discipline in "Alles was zaehlt" this summer. In the show, Lisicki conducts a tennis workshop and appears alongside characters Gabriella and Joana. The actress who will appear in the series from December 2025 playing herself is none other than Sabine Lisicki.
The three-episode arc, airing between December 15 and 17, 2025, will see Lisicki playing a guest role in which she portrays herself. She expressed some stage fright before the shoot due to the need to memorise lines, but she is eager to inspire more people, especially kids, to take up tennis.
Lisicki has limited acting experience, with her only high-level acting role being in a school musical. However, her significant success, particularly on grass, including reaching the Wimbledon final in 2013, speaks volumes about her dedication and determination.
As a professional athlete, Lisicki used to watch series to unwind after training. But as a mom, she hardly watches anything due to lack of time. She announced the birth of her daughter in September 2024 and mentioned experiencing 'mom brain,' which refers to concentration difficulties often experienced by young mothers.
Despite the challenges, Lisicki is looking forward to her acting debut. Sport is a major theme in the soap opera, which revolves around events at a sports and wellness center. Lisicki's guest appearance will air one week earlier on RTL+ before it airs on RTL.
Lisicki's foray into acting is sure to be an exciting addition to the world of tennis and television. Fans of both will be eagerly awaiting her debut in "Alles was zaehlt."
