Tennis celebrity Sabine Lisicki assumes control of RTL's television series
Sabine Lisicki, the 35-year-old tennis star from Troisdorf, is set to make her acting debut in the long-running German soap opera 'Alles was zählt'. The series, which has been a staple of RTL's prime-time schedule since 2006 and is produced in Cologne, has shifted its focus from figure skating to other sports over the years, with tennis being the latest addition this summer.
Lisicki, who achieved significant success on the tennis court, particularly on grass courts, including reaching the Wimbledon final in 2013, will be playing herself in the series. Her character will lead a tennis workshop for young female tennis players in Essen.
The tennis champion expressed her delight at being offered a role in 'Alles was zählt', stating that she's been a fan of the series since its beginning. She hopes that the inclusion of tennis in the soap opera will inspire more people, especially children, to take up tennis.
Lisicki mentioned that she hasn't had much time to watch television shows since the birth of her daughter in September 2024. However, she recalled the original advertisement for 'Alles was zählt' and appreciated its focus on sports.
Her guest appearance in 'Alles was zählt' will air in episodes 4846 to 4848, between December 15 and 17, 2025 on RTL, one week earlier on RTL+. Lisicki also mentioned having 'mom brain', which refers to concentration difficulties among young mothers, and hoped that her appearance might encourage viewers to watch and possibly learn about tennis.
Interestingly, Lisicki has some acting experience, having played a role in a school musical. She expressed hope that her acting debut in 'Alles was zählt' might encourage viewers to watch the series and perhaps learn about tennis.
'Alles was zählt' is a soap opera that revolves around events at a sports and wellness center. Sports is a major theme in the series, making it a fitting platform for Lisicki to share her passion for tennis with a wider audience.
