Tennis authorities take tough action: Four officials suspended due to exposure of match-fixing and betting scandals related to sports corruption
The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has taken action against several tennis officials and players involved in match-fixing and corruption, as announced on its website.
The ITIA, an independent organization established to promote, improve, and protect the integrity of professional tennis worldwide, has been at the forefront of enforcing anti-doping and anti-corruption rules in the sport.
Four Officials Suspended for Match-Fixing
The ITIA has convicted four tennis officials for match-fixing: Edvinas Grigaitis (LTU), Givi Khudoiani (GEO), Arsen Movsisyan (ARM), and Manuel Sperger (AUT). Grigaitis was found to have delayed or manipulated data on completed matches during official tournaments to gain an advantage in sports betting. He will be suspended for three years.
Khudoiani and Movsisyan worked together in pursuit of a similar strategy in 2019 and 2020. They have been suspended for approximately two and a half years. Sperger accepted a direct fine from the ITIA after being convicted in an Austrian court for match-fixing.
The sanctioned officials will not be allowed to co-organize or attend tennis events hosted by ITIA members during their suspensions. The fines and suspensions were imposed on January 5, 2024.

The ITIA is responsible for overseeing anti-doping and anti-corruption in professional tennis, operating under the regulations of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
